Mission
To create a vibrant, attractive, adaptive, and charming Uptown District that is welcoming to visitors, residents, and investors by: increasing the stock of high-quality housing options; championing the development of diverse businesses, entertainment, and dining options; supporting the rehabilitation of existing buildings and appropriate infill; and building a vibrant, inclusive community identity through frequent communications, support of Uptown marketing, events and promotions.

Uptown Partnership operates through four dedicated committees, each playing a vital role in shaping the future of our community. These committees focus on key areas: Design, which enhances the physical appearance of Uptown; Economic Vitality, which supports local businesses and encourages sustainable growth; Organization, which builds partnerships and strengthens community involvement; and Promotion, which markets Martinsville’s unique assets to residents and visitors alike. Main Street Program
Uptown Partnership is currently an Exploring Main Street Affiliate community under the Virginia Main Street Program (VMS), which is a preservation-based economic and community development program that offers a range of services and assistance to communities interested in revitalizing their historic commercial districts. We are committed to using the Main Street Approach to frame our work.
